In this article, I’m going to be talking about the very beautiful island of Samui. It is shortened to Samui from Ko Samui. It is actually an island that is off the coast of Thailand. It is on the eastern side. Geographically, it is a part of an article I go. It was granted the municipal status, and it is now a self governed place. It has an area of 228 km². It also happens to be the second-largest island in the island.

In the year 2018, this place actually experienced a lot of tourist activities. More than 2.7 million tourists entered this place. It belongs to the country of Thailand, like I mentioned above. It is around 635 m at its highest elevation. At its lowest elevation, it is at sea level. The island was actually uninhabited until 1500 years ago. Since then, the most common people on the island or fishermen.

This island has actually appeared on Chinese maps, dating back to 1687. The origin of the name is actually unknown. It may even come from a word that is translated from Sanskrit or Tamil. A third possibility from its origins was actually led to the Chinese language. Until the late 20th century, Samui was an island that was isolated and self-sufficient. It had a self-sufficient community, and it had very little connection to the mainland of Thailand.
